From the minute you walk into our salon, you’re surrounded by contemporary design and a mixture of modern staff who will promptly ask your choice of beverage. Not a coffee fiend? Don’t worry; we’ve got mimosas, tea, water, and sodas in case.
As a gender neutral salon, the retreat begins with an in-depth consultation and ends with an at home how-to, a staple for any service offered. Relax, slip into a robe, and let us expose the layers of your life and style and thoughtfully construct a signature look for you. It’s a feel good experience, and yes, we can check the name of the song playing so you can download it at home.
The salon itself opened in July of 2006 by owner and stylist Michael Singletary. The premise of his dream was to be the best salon in Houston, to build from within, and educationally back every single one of his staff. Now, almost four years later, that dream is solid, right to the concrete floors.
Our staff is one of a resilient and ever-learning breed, and outside education is a must. Bumble and Bumble, Oribe, Wella, Goldwell, Vidal Sassoon, Redken, and Toni and Guy are just a few of the educational institutes that have inspired our team to become innovatively modern and forward-thinking.
We begin outside, fresh-faced and eager. Sometimes we are new out of school, or maybe we’ve been out a while just waiting for the right opportunity. We know what we want out of a salon and are willing to go get it. Learning, growing, practicing, devoting, sacrificing- yes, we know these words well. They are the ones it takes to succeed.
An M Salon apprenticeship is hard work. It means anticipation, that of the client and the salon. It means always being on time, looking sharp, and having a sponge-like memory. To be honest, what it means really is success. The chance to go farther than ever thought possible. To set a goal and actually achieve it, to work with top professionals in today’s industry, and the chance to become professionals ourselves.
Our salon was born to the ideals that amazing hair, catering service, and relaxation can come together in harmony to create a serene and trusting environment for the men and women of today.
Michael is my Scissor Wizard….don’t know what my hair would do without his expertise…well yes I do know…just sit there and look really boring and stringy.
I am constantly be approached my short hair cut….most short hair cuts are ordinary…but my short hair cut has so much dimension and fun and funky movement…Just Love it. From the color, cut and style….Thank You Michael….There is magic in them there Hands!!!!
