Thakoon Fashion Week 2012

Somewhere along the lines this Fashion Week 2012, Thakoon channelled modern-day Marie Antoinette (if she were into cowboy hats), inspiring pastel colored hair for their newest collection. Mint greens, baby blues, and rose pinks radiated atop braids and chignons. Vastly different from their 2011 collection, this years Spring collection mirrors the colors in which it blooms. Bright, and refreshing, this collection makes us think that life on a ranch is a little less cattle and campfire, and a little more macaroons and french opulence.

Bored With The Bun

Thanks to a never-ending network of blogs, hair stylists around the world can be inspired and re-inspired by fellow hair artists with just a touch of a button. One in particular is the blog A Cup Of Jo. Mainly geared towards easy, do-it-yourself wedding hair, we’ve found a style wearable for every day. And since we just can’t let this classic bun go, Joanna Goddard has given us an easy way to transform it.

Breaking down the bun:

1. Make a ponytail, place it however high or low you want it.

2. Split the ponytail just under the elastic, leaving enough slack to pull it through.

3. Tucking upwards, pull the tail through the hole.

4. Fan the tail out enough to cover the elastic and looped part.

5. Tuck the tail under to complete this bun. Hairspray to finish.

So Knotty

Have you ever wondered what the easiest style in the world is to do yourself? Now you don’t have to. It’s called knotting, and so easy that it could be done without a mirror.

Thanks to the website Pinterest, we’ve found our favorite versions of this look interpreted. What we love about being knotted most is that these styles could be worn casually on weekdays, or formally for events or weddings. Whether you want your hair up or down, this technique adds an intricate detail to any hair style.

Let’s hear it for the gals who are so sick of hearing about “top knots”, and are in need of a little “Bridget Bardot”. It’s high-time we bring back a soft look for good girls who have a party or two to attend.

Try our version of a half-up style that is easy to do, and addicting for all hair types and lengths. It’s so wildly popular this season that even Lucky Magazine sent out their own version.

We’ve put together an M Salon how-to video for all of our clients to try at home. For our version all you will need is a flat brush, two bobby pins, hair-spray, and an iconic black headband. Enjoy the parties and Happy Holidays!

Formaldehyde-Free Concen-Straight Treatment

Leave it to Bumble and Bumble to pioneer their way in to the straight and smooth market. With such an amazing straightening balm in their  repertoire already, it’s amazing they didn’t come up with this sooner.

Concen-Straight isn’t just a play on words, it’s an amazing new way to straighten hair. With a formaldehyde free formula, it concentrates on separating the bonds of the hair without breaking them. This allows the wearer to blow dry hair to pin-straight status, yet still air dry with natural curl.

This technique will last anywhere from 30-35 shampoos when used with the Concen-Straight sulfate-free shampoo, conditioner, and smoothing balm.
Ingredients by Bumble and Bumble:

Concen-straight Pro Treatment, with Concen-straight Technology™ and a conditioning, plant (never animal) derived protein, start working with Sodium Metabisulfite gently altering existing curly bonds. It also contains a Gemstone Blend of Pearl, Tourmaline, Brazilian Green Malachite and Sapphire powder that loosens inner S-bonds which give hair its natural curve. Polylysine, an amino acid, refines S-bonds into smoother shapes. A Featherlight Silicone Blend seals and sets shape straight for lasting smoothness (while protecting against heat).

FAQS and Eligibility:

This process will have you in and out of the salon in 2 hours. The only staple required is that the wearer wait a minimum of 24 hours before washing their hair, and avoid hair-ties or tucking hair for long periods of time.

Hair colored clients should wait a two-week period after receiving treatment to resume any coloring procedures.

Draw back for extremely compromised hair is that they are not eligible for this treatment due to heated activation. Concen-Straight is a patented, NON-damaging formula, but will not repair any existing damage to the hair.

If you are battling frizz, humidity, rough and tough curls, or just plain sick of flat-irons, then this treatment is for you.
